MAXWELL — A midday sand volleyball tournament is one of the highlights of this weekend’s Maxwell Heritage Day celebration.
Saturday’s village festival is themed “Celebrating Red, White and Blue on the 22nd”.
The volleyball tournament is scheduled to start at 12:30pm at Brittenham Park and is limited to four players per team. The entry fee is $75 per team and the pool game tournament field is capped at 14 teams.

Heritage Day begins with a grab-and-go breakfast that starts at 8:30 a.m. in the Village Center and is sponsored by the Maxwell Public Schools Student Council. The one-day festival ends with a teen dance from 8 to 11 p.m. at the same venue.

Volleyball is not the only competition scheduled for the day. A cornhole tournament, sponsored by the Maxwell Fire Department, begins at 2 p.m. at Municipal Park.

Individuals can also try their luck at bingo at 6.30pm at Brittenham Park Lookout.
The festival parade is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am. The lineup begins at 9 a.m. and participants are asked to enter the venue on East Maxwell Street. The registration booth will be located at the intersection of First and Willow streets.
Brittenham Park will also feature bounce houses, water slides, as well as gaga dance games and nine square in the air. All scheduled activities will begin at 12:30 p.m
In addition, there will be a luncheon at First Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m. and a dinner in the park at 6 p.m., with the latter sponsored by the Maxwell High School volleyball team.
