SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) – The Southport Police Department announced on August 13 that they will be co-sponsoring an upcoming back to school event. The event will take place on August 20 at Alvin C. Caviness Park at 300 W. Owens St. Starting at noon, the event is also sponsored by the Southport Unity Committee and St. James AME Zion.
According to its release, the event will be free to the public with school supplies to be given away while supplies last. In addition, there will be music, food, bounce houses and water features.
In its announcement, the SPD indicated that those who wish to attend are encouraged to bring a towel.
