INDIANA COUNTY PREPARING FOR FESTIVAL WEEKEND

Indiana County will be busy with a couple of festivals this weekend.

The first will be Saturday as the Blairsville Diamond hosts the 10th annual Knotweed Festival, which celebrates the Japanese Knotweed that can be found along the Conemaugh River in Indiana County.

The festivities begin at 10 am with a parade down Carrer del Mercat. Children’s activities will begin at 11 a.m. and will include bounce houses, climbing walls and more.

Throughout the day, musical groups will also perform in different places, and Renda Media will broadcast live from the Festival.

On Sunday, the Italian Festival returns to Philadelphia Street in central Indiana.

Vendors, artisans and food trucks, along with other types of attractions, will tour the area between 9th and 13th streets from noon to 7 p.m. There will also be a car show and a yard auction valued at $1,300. Raffle tickets are available at Bruno’s Restaurant for $5 each and proceeds will benefit the Teddy Bear Fund Drive.

Festival spokeswoman Tammy Currie said there was a lot of cooperation from local businesses to create the festival.
