Today begins the days of the merchants of Fort Pierre; Activities scheduled until Sunday afternoon


The annual Trader Days activities begin this afternoon (August 12, 2022) and continue through Sunday afternoon at Fischers Lilly Park and Deadwood Street Center in Fort Pierre.

Shane Kramme of the Fort Pierre Chamber of Commerce says the Street Masters Dam Run starts at 4pm CT, the beer tent, food trucks, storage tank, bounce houses and booths of vendors opens at 5:00 PM and tonight’s featured entertainment begins at 7:00 PM.

Callie Iverson, a member of the organizing committee, says the parade with a kazoo band is at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Iverson and Kramme are excited to have turkey races again this year.

There is musical entertainment at Fischers Lilly Park all three days and people are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket so they can sit and relax.

The Verendrye Museum Backyard BBQ Contest Fundraiser is Saturday from 11:30am to 1pm CT. A meal will be served from 1 p.m. The public can purchase a ticket for $10. The Verendrye Museum Board supports five local historic sites: the Verendrye Museum, the Log Cabin Visitor Center, the Stanley County Jail, the Sansarc Country School Museum and the Fort Pierre Depot.
