With cooler weather, the September event calendar heats up with many events including Hesperia Days, Calico Days, Barstow’s 75th Anniversary Celebration and more.
The 73rd annual Hesperia Days parade will roll down Main Street on Saturday with a caravan of marching bands, floats, community groups, animals, vintage vehicles and plenty of surprises.
Hosted by the Hesperia Parks and Recreation District, Hesperia Days is a two-day celebration starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday with a 5K run, walk and skate at the Percy Bakker Community Center on St. “E” 9333.
The Rock’n Our Disabilities Foundation will present the Hesperia Days parade with the theme “Beyond the Stars.” The parade begins at 9 a.m. on Main Street, with the motorcade traveling west from Timberlane Avenue/Sultana Street to “E” Avenue.
After the parade, festivities begin at 11 a.m. at Lake Hesperia Park at 7500 Arrowhead Lake Road.
A full day of events includes a variety of vendors, a kid’s zone, the Great Duck Race and a fireworks display that begins at dusk. The All American Music Festival lineup includes Mojave Heat, Aces & Eights, Twenty Dollar Prophets and Manantial De Fuego.
The Hesperia Days Rodeo will be “Back in the Saddle” Saturday and Sunday at the Val Shearer Arena inside Hesperia Lake Park.
Rodeo gates open at 3:00 PM, and the rodeo starts at 5:00 PM. Admission to the rodeo is $15 per person, and children under 3 are free. Two-day wristbands are $25. General parking is $5 and VIP parking is $15. Vendor slots are $60 for one day or $100 for two days.

Church of the Valley
Church of the Valley will host its “Coming Home” community event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church at 20700 Standing Rock Avenue in Apple Valley.
The celebration will include food trucks, children’s activities, a bounce house, an inflatable obstacle course, vendors, resource booths, a clothing giveaway and more. For more information, visit churchofthevalley.net.
Inglis Motor Show
The Inglis Classics Cruise In is scheduled from 9:00am to 2:00pm on Sunday and November 20th at Inglis Classics, 17229 Lemon Street in Hesperia. Event includes all makes/models of vehicles and bikes. Connection – State of the Hispanic Market
The High Desert Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will host Connexion State of the Hispanic Market from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Courtyard by Marriott at 9619 Mariposa Road in Hesperia. The keynote speaker is California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Laura. Several speakers will discuss the growing Latino population, their purchasing power, marketing strategies and more. Sheriff’s Rodeo
Tickets are now on sale for the 2022 San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Rodeo at Glen Helen Regional Park. The annual benefit rodeo will take place from September 23 to 25. Apple Valley Reverse Triathlon
The Apple Valley Reverse Triathlon is scheduled for Sept. 24 at the Civic Center Park and Aquatic Center at 14999 Dale Evans Parkway. The reverse triathlon will begin with a 5-mile run and transition to a 12-mile flat course and finish with a 150-meter pool. The kids triathlon will consist of a 1km run, a 1 mile bike ride and a 50 yard swim. There will be a traditional 5K for runners. Days of Calico
Calico Days returns with a weekend of Old West adventures including shooting shows, live music, a miner’s triathlon, a donkey race, a costume contest, a cake eating contest and tons of activities to to the younger ones.
Scheduled from 9 am to 5 pm on September 24th and 25th, Calico Days commemorates the fever days of the 1800s but with shopping, attractions, food and more.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 4-11, and children 3 and under are free.

Series of family concerts
The Victor Valley Community Concert Association and Live On Stage, Inc. announce the start of the 2022-2023 Newton T. Bass Family Concert Series, sponsored by The Apple Valley Foundation.
World-renowned swing and swing pianist Judy Carmichael will perform live at 2:30pm on September 25 at the Victor Valley College Performing Arts Center.
The New York Times called Grammy Award-nominated pianist, singer, songwriter, and radio host Carmichael’s performance “Incredible, flawless, and captivating.”
Carmichael is one of the world’s leading piano stride and swing performers. His talents have taken him around the world from Carnegie Hall to the Guggenheim Museum in Venice, Italy.
Carmichael’s talent has led him to stage performances with the likes of Melissa Etheridge, Michael Feinstein, Steve Ross, the Smothers Brothers and more. His high-energy show is a romp through the Great American Songbook combined with his famous wit and humor.

Barstow’s 75th Anniversary
The city of Barstow is preparing to celebrate its 75th anniversary with a community celebration from 11 am to 8 pm on October 1 at the Historic Harvey House at 681 North First Avenue. The celebration will include food and craft vendors, a car show, bounce houses, trains, a pumpkin patch and a beer/margarita garden. Live acts include Latin Express (Top 40/Latin) and The Killer Dueling Pianos. The day will close with a drone light show. Parking and admission are free. For more information, visit barstowca.org.
