Fall brings cooler weather and beautiful fall colors with Halloween just around the corner. We’ve compiled a list of scares and fun things to do in October around the Fox Valley and beyond.
TERROR IN THE FOX
What: Terror on the Fox is a haunted event featuring a ride on an old passenger train, computer-controlled video and sound screens, lighting and animatronics.
When: 7pm to 10pm September 30, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 25 and 26; From 7 pm to 11 pm Fridays and Saturdays throughout October and from October 27 to 31.
Where: National Railroad Museum, 2285 S. Broadway, Green Bay.
Entry: $25 general admission (plus $10 for Fast Pass). Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be sold at the box office.

BURIAL CHAMBER
What: Two indoor haunted houses, an outdoor wooded path and four burial simulators
When: from 18.45 to 23.30 hours Friday and Saturday, from September 30 to October 29; The 4th and 5th of November are closed nights. Note: Not all events are open every night.

FEAR OF GREEN BAY
What: Haunted House presented by the Beja Shriners, featuring Shawano Manor, Howling Hollow and Mr. Jingles Funhouse.
When: 19.00-23.00 Friday and Saturday, from September 30 to October 29; Children’s days are from 2 to 5 p.m. on October 15 and 29

THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS
What: Haunted house

HAUNTED HEARTSTONE
What: “Victorian Serial Killers”. Strange and terrifying practices from the Victorian era and possible sightings of deceased residents.
When: Fridays and Saturdays in October from 6pm to 10pm, entry times vary.

SPOOKS ON SPURR
What: Tour the Mansion of Misery or the Forest of Monsters. Live music, concessions and bonfire every night. Bands play from 7.30pm to 11.30pm
When: From 6pm to 11.30pm Friday and Saturday, throughout October. Family day, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 23

What: Haunted walk through the woods.

PUMPKIN CARVING EVENT
What: Pumpkin carving and decorating event. Bring your own pumpkins and carving tools. The pumpkins will be used to decorate Zoo Boo.
When: 4-8 p.m. October 5
Where: NEW Zoo, Suamico (at the refuge of the Pines)
Month: Guests must register in advance to ensure a cut-off time. Capacity will be limited. Free pizza and soda for participants

ZOO BOO
What: Costumes are encouraged, each guest 1 year and older will receive a bag of candy, ride the carousel and enjoy the maze as well as a scavenger hunt.
When: staggered start time from 3 to 8 p.m. from October 7 to 8, from October 14 to 15 and from October 21 to 22

BOO PARTY
What: The Halloween themed event features a pumpkin decorating contest, hay wagon rides, horse grooming, scavenger hunt, games, coloring and more.

FESTIVAL OF THE HARVEST MOON
What: Lighted Walk, Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides ($1 per person and tickets sell out fast), apple cider making, crafts and more. The Northeast Wisconsin Stargazers group will offer stargazing opportunities. Hot and cold food and drinks will be on sale.
When: October 8 from 6 to 9 p.m

THE GREAT PUMPKIN TRAIN
What: Entertainment, crafts, games and the chance to ride the train to the pumpkin patch

PUMPKIN WALK
What: A 1/2 mile self-guided walk along accessible trails lined with hundreds of street lights. There will be a bonfire. Halloween stories will be read inside.

ZOOLOWEEN BOO
What: Come in costume and enjoy trick-or-treat stations, bounce houses, Halloween concessions, games, crafts, prizes and more.

BREAKING IN THE SWAMP
What: Explore the trails and collect goodies at trick-or-treat stations along the way. Hay wagon rides, games for kids, face painting, crafts and more. Chance to win prizes in the costume contest.

What: Hosted by the Fox Crossing Parks and Recreation Department, families stroll the jack-o’-lantern lit trails and collect candy. Afterwards, enjoy hot chocolate and kids can take home a craft kit.

GREENVILLE FRIGHT NIGHT IN THE PARK
What: Haunted pavilion, paranormal zoo, ride, children’s activities and more.
When: 6-8 pm the lights are on and the ghosts are friendly; 8-10 p.m. the lights go out and the scares begin, October 21-22 and 27-29

VISITS TO THE VELEMA LIGHT CAVE
What: Guided tour of the caves by candlelight; meet unusual personalities with strange stories to tell. The recommended minimum age is 5 years with parents. The half-mile guided walk departs every half hour.

A NIGHT TO DISMEMBER
What: The Appleton North High School Theater Department presents their annual Haunted House. Fearless flashlight tours will be available during all hours the house is open. There will also be carnival games, a mini inflatable haunted house for the little ones, a costume contest and a bake sale.

What: Hosted by the Menasha Parks and Recreation Department, search the Menasha Parks and Trails System for 10 specially marked hidden pumpkins.
When: Week of October 21 to 27
Where: A “Pumpkin Light Picnic” will kick off the week at 5:30pm on October 21st at Smith Park, Menasha

LOVELY TRACK
What: Enchanted route through Hatten Park. Concessions and entrance to the main shelter.
When: October 28, 4:30-6:00pm Trick or treat trail for children 12 and under, with the spooky trail from approximately 6:30-8:45pm
