CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI —
The city of Charlottetown is celebrating its 167th birthday with a host of family-friendly events for the Christmas Day weekend of July 29-31.
The weekend begins, the Stihl Timbersports Canadian Championship will take place at Confederation Landing at 2 p.m. on July 29, the city said in a statement.
The competitions will last until 16.00 and then start from 19.00 to 20.30
The event will continue on July 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., and again on July 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m.
Logan Richard and the indie-pop band Hillsburn will perform at the Confederation Landing Park Gazebo on July 29 from 8:45 to 10:25 p.m.
Events on July 30 begin at 8:30am with a pancake breakfast that runs until 10am, with entertainment from Adam MacGregor and The Foes.
There will also be tours of the Charlottetown Edible Garden from 10am to 5pm
Outer Limits Sports will be hosting a skateboard, BMX and scooter competition at the Victoria Park Skate Park on July 30 from 10am to 2pm, with registration from 9.30am.
Victoria Park Pool will be throwing a splash party from 1pm to 3pm, with DJ Douce playing summer hits.
Older adults in Charlottetown can go to a social gathering at Jack Blanchard Hall from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Gordie MacKeeman and His Rhythm Boys will then perform at the Confederation Landing gazebo from 8:15 to 10 p.m.
The night will end with a fireworks display in Port Charlottetown, starting at 10:00 p.m
July 31 will begin with morning yoga at Confederation Landing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The final event will be the Charlie Town Birthday Party, 2-6pm at Confederate Landing with bounce houses, mini putt, face painting and a photo booth.
The Parkdale Sherwood Lions Club will also be serving free hot dogs and ice cream sandwiches from 2 to 4 p.m.
